Troy Bayliss on the Xerox Ducati has taken provisional from Troy Corser at Assen ahead of the fifth round of the Corona Extra Superbike World Championship.
The fast Australian spent Friday experimenting with his set up and it has paid off as he took the number one spot. Troy Corser on the Yamaha Italia bike did head the time sheets for a while but was relegated to second by his fellow country man and the current World Superbike champion.
James Toseland maintained his provisional front row position on his Hannspree Ten Kate Honda but was pushed back to third by the two hard charging Aussies. And rounding out the provisional front row is Valencia race winner Ruben Xaus on the Sterilgarda Ducati.
The Alstare Corona Extra Suzuki team were both outside the top ten with Max Biaggi running twelfth and Yukio Kagayama in sixteenth.
