- Tenth and ninth for Ruben Xaus in Saturday's season-opening Qatar races may not appear much to cheer about but, as the Spaniard points out, it was also a tough weekend for the factory Ducati team.
Indeed, while Xaus and his year-old Sterilgarda 999 were left seven places behind the leading Ducati of Lorenzo Lanzi in race one - the Spaniard was one-second from reigning double world champion Troy Bayliss in the second outing, with Lanzi just one place further ahead.
That came despite a limited pre-season testing programme and after a weekend of continued improvements - meaning that the former WSBK race winner is in confident mood for this weekend's Phillip Island round. Crash.net | |
