- Repsol Honda riders Nicky Hayden and Dani Pedrosa brought the centre of Madrid to a standstill on Sunday as they led a spectacular 8000-bike convoy through the Spanish capital.
The event, organised to celebrate the official launch of the 2007 Repsol Honda Team, saw the reigning MotoGP world champion and his Spanish team-mate leading a long procession during a 7km journey to the Palacio de Deportes, flanked by a huge police escort.
Also attending the ride-out were Julián Simón and Shuhei Aoyama from the 250cc Repsol Honda Team while 125cc riders Esteve Rabat and Bradley Smith followed in a car - being too young to hold the required road licence! After the ride-out, all six grand prix riders appeared on stage to answer questions and sign autographs in front of thousands of fans.
Following their unusual Sunday ride, the Repsol Honda Team will now turns its attention to this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix, round two of the 2007 MotoGP World Championship. Pedrosa finished third at round one, with Hayden eighth. Crash.net | |
